Civil Disobedience RELOADED...

Civil disobedience is the active refusal to obey certain laws, demands and commands of a government. This is the word which had made impacts in Indian history, the word that was powerful enough to make India free, make India the largest democracy globally.

I daily take the same route to college and these days I can see a new form of civil disobedience. ..the people refuse to throw garbage in municipal dustbin littering it here and there, the municipal people refuse to clean the mess, the traffic policemen are missing from the crossroads ignoring their duties, the pharmacist are illiterate selling anything to anyone as far as you can pay for it, the shop owners do not think twice before selling cigarettes to a 6 year old, the ‘no parking’ areas are flooded with stationary machines, children are working in almost every dhabas in shamshad, even the most coveted exam forms (IAS) are available only by paying bribe at the post offices…and the list is never ending…

We all know that all the above offences punishable by LAW…but most of my fellow citizens just don’t care…is this some kind of CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE the Indian people are following…but why?…why this attitude?…why such irresponsible behavior towards the laws of that one great nation for which our forefathers have given their life?…

The answer is simple and straight…JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED…

There are nearly 30 million cases pending in courts right now…they oldest pending case is 170 years old…just imagine 170 years…India has become free, governments have changed, India got divided, animals became extinct, America became the superpower, our population increased many folds but that case still was left PENDING…

We all have acclimatized to the fact that no matter what no one will notice, even if someone notices he won’t care to complain, and if the person cares to complain the LAW will stand at our side making sure that nothing happens, and if by chance something is decided its really futile as compared to our crime…this makes us fearless, indifferent and highly irresponsible…

308 members of constitutional assembly worked day and night for 166 days, spread over a period of 2 years, 11 months and 18 days to frame the longest constitution in the world, the parliament made the law for the biggest democracy in the world…but something, somehow went wrong…No one feels responsible for his country his actions, we all can play this dirty blame game for hours but cant WASTE a second in admitting our mistakes…

(I still can write pages over this subject…………………………hence to be continued…)

  2. good observations. Its unfortunate that bribery and child labour are the habits of the educated elites. I think its high time for self-contemplation and moral-audit.
